Downers Grove Boxing & Martial Arts is the premier boxing and martial arts gym in the western suburbs of Chicago. We are dedicated to achieving fitness and personal growth through the study of boxing and martial arts.
Downers Grove Boxing & Martial Arts caters to a wide range of clientele. We are always happy to welcome people who are looking for a new, fun way to get in shape. At the same time, we are a great place for experienced martial artists to keep their skills sharp, or pick up a new art form. All we ask is that you give 100% and keep a positive mindset.
We are proud to offer training by some of the most experienced instructors in the Chicagoland area! Many of our boxing classes are taught by current or former Golden Gloves Champions. On the martial arts side, every one of our instructors have 20+ years of experience and most have been training for over 30 years. Two of our senior instructors have been inducted into the Martial Arts Hall of Fame. Learn more about our instructors.
What ages are appropriate for Boxing? Boxing is an intense sport that involves contact with a heavy bag or focus pads as part of the training. It is important to be able to train with someone of a similar size and strength. We do not accept students below age 12 and suggest that younger students bring a partner of similar size. Acceptance of any student for boxing is at the discretion of the management of Downers Grove Boxing & Martial Arts. If your kids are old enough, we encourage you to pair up with them and train together! It’s a great way to bond with your teenagers and we offer family discounts.
What ages are appropriate for Martial Arts? American Kenpo Karate and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu are art forms that are designed for self-defense and can cause injury. For this reason, we prefer that students be mature. We will take students as young as age 12 based on maturity and prior martial arts experience. Acceptance of any student for martial arts training is at the discretion of the management of Downers Grove Boxing & Martial Arts. We would be happy to meet with your son or daughter one on one to evaluate their readiness to take up a more serious Martial Art form.
Do you offer child care? We do not. We ask that you leave small children at home when you come to train. If your kids are older, we encourage you to pair up and train with them. It’s a great way to bond with your teenagers!
