History of American Kenpo Karate

American Kenpo Karate was developed by Ed Parker in the late 1950’s and 1960’s. After studying other martial arts, he recognized that they didn’t adequately address the need for self-defense in the real world. In this new form, Parker incorporated linear movements like those commonly found in karate with circular movements similar to those in kung fu.
